Dreams are normally fleeting in nature, but Grace Lee has made it her business preserving them for the pleasure of fantasists everywhere.
Gems for Ashes (foundbygrace on etsy) offers jewelry that combines hand-sculpted details, elegant gemstones and magical centerpieces like preserved flowers. Grace’s creations will feel right at home draped on the décolletage of any free-spirited nature lover thanks to their otherworldly charm.
For those interested in the process behind the art, readers can find out about many of the suppliers through the Gems for Ashes Instagram account. By working with other small businesses and detailing each design with resin or clay, Grace ensures all her jewelry is completely unique.
Some creations have an added touch of sparkle through the use of Swarovski crystals, like the necklace above entitled “Christmas in Spring.”
The flower crystal was created by Shanna at Solaras Garden, who preserves botanicals in resin. The turquoise stone featured was supplied by Sabrina Marie of Turquoise Obsession, another handmade jewelry artisan. All other elements were crafted and painted by Grace herself.
You can see even more of Grace’s sculpting talent in her Enchanted Flower Dust Wand. It took two days of shaping, painting and glazing to perfect this shimmery talisman. Even the gunmetal chain is given an extra flourish with hydro-coated iolite quartz beads.
The focal quartz crystal is surrounded by Herkimer-style crystals on the leaves and flowers, creating dimension and sparkle from every angle.
This Floating Castle pendant takes inspiration from the lush world of Castle in the Sky by Miyazaki. The dainty moss and rich greenery contrasts with the glittering cloud of crystals at the bottom, then draw the eye to the striking moonstone.
The romantic structure and organic accents make me wish I had a “Drink Me” potion to explore the inside of this ethereal hideaway, too!
If you’re interested in adorning yourself with some of Grace’s stunning jewelry, your best options are to visit the Gems for Ashes website or contact Grace through her Instagram account. Her designs typically cost $150 – 250.
Gems for Ashes’ high quality materials and careful detailing add whimsy to any fashion statement. Set your imagination free with one of these artistic visions!
